I have always thought of Joel as a friend…

In 2007, I was hired as additional makeup effects artist for Sarah Connor Chronicles. I was new to the Union. I was new to TV. I was new to seeing how the “pros” did it.
On my second day on set, I met Joel as they were setting up a “flying” rig for one of the terminators to get thrown through the forest. I had never seen this “size” rig before and was fascinated. I ended up talking to one of the stunt guys about it and he took the time to explain how everything worked as well as letting me watch them test it and such. Since the terminator I had made up was helping rig, I figured it was acceptable for me to watch. The Stunt Man’s name was Joel.
The next few days I was on set, I would say “Hi” to Joel and we would talk joke. He always let me watch them put things together (don’t worry, I didn’t shirk my duties) and explain how things worked. It was so interesting to me. I then found out that Joel was the Stunt Coordinator for the show.
The work friendship that was born on that show could have easily translated into a real world friendship if our circles had been closer. That being said, after the show wrapped we continued to talk and catch up and reminisce. To this day, 2018, I have always thought of Joel as a friend, and someone that I would readily trust with my safety!
Joel has always been one of the nicest and most sincere people I have worked with.
