I consider Joel not only a mentor, but also a friend.
from: Eddie Conna ~
I have worked for and with Joel many times over the years, on several projects. We’ve also become friends during that time, and I’ve spent a lot of time with him off set as well.
I’ve always found Joel to be professional, organized, diligent, as well as funny, silly, kind, patient, caring, and giving. He is one of the folks I have always enjoyed working and playing with.
Even during times on set when things were crazy and hectic, Joel remained calm, and always looked out for the stunt people, as well as the cast, and the crew. Safety was never a concern of mine when working for Joel, as that was always his top priority. He always made a point to let me know if I was EVER not comfortable with something, saw something out of place, or had a question, to come to him and speak up and he would address my concerns immediately.
On one show I was in a tricky key position when things got hectic and production began rushing, he told me “If they start pushing you, let me know. We’re not compromising safety for speed”.
I consider Joel not only a mentor, but also a friend. He’s fair, honest, and has integrity. Joel is my friend because of who he is as a person.
